BLODEUWEDD - THE FLOWER BRIDE
DRUMMING: Blodeuwedd, Flower Bride
Not a Lady of the Lake, Blodeuwedd is a Celtic Goddess, who, like Guinevere, is associated with the Celtic Wheel of the Year festival, Beltane. Because we drummed the story and meaning of Guinevere at Beltane, and Blodeuwedd was often mentioned, we are going to take this May-time opportunity to explore and integrate the stories and wisdom of Blodeuwedd, the Flower-maiden Goddess.
BLODEUWEDD'S story is found in "The Mabinogion," the Welsh-Celtic myth stories, most famously translated by Lady Charlotte Guest in the 1830s, a collection of stories which are very much a part of the "Matter of Britain."
Blodeuwedd (pronounced "Vlod-eye-weth") ris a Goddess intelligence and energy that conjoured out of the land to become a non-human Bride for Llew Law Gyffes, by the devious magicians, Math and Gwydion, and she is fashioned from the flowers of oak broom and meadowsweet.
Blodeuwedd, like Guinevere is the Goddess-fulcrum around which contesting forces fight for the right of Kingship of the Land. She is The Flower-Bride, and can be a sower of strife in order to ensure that she achieves for herself, "that which every woman wants."
"She wants to be flowers, but you make her owls," a quote from Alan Garner's 1967 novel, The Owl Service is a theme we'll definitely be exploring in this workshop.
Your personal Quest for development and growth can not be fully achieved without first exploring and assimilating Blodeuwedd's lessons into your being. Blodeuwedd is The Flower Bride who is uncompromising in getting what she wants. And in that, she is an ESSENTIAL ELEMENT of transformational alchemy.
There are just EIGHT in-person places available for those who wish to join us at the Serenity Therapy Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, and TWENTY places for those wishing to join via ZOOM.
